Nicolas Debruyne
U.S. Head of Engineering – BioNexUS program

Nicolas is a senior engineering executive currently serving as Head of US Engineering at UCB. With a career spanning over two decades in pharmaceutical manufacturing, strategic facility development, and global engineering leadership, Nicolas is recognized for driving innovation and operational excellence across complex biomanufacturing initiatives.
He brings over 15 years of experience developed within GSK in highly regulated biopharmaceutical environments, underpinned by a strong engineering background. This experience has shaped a strategic perspective on manufacturing and engineering governance, quality‑driven operations, and risk‑based decision‑making, enabling effective executive oversight of GMP‑compliant systems in complex, large‑scale organizations.
In 2018, Nicolas joined UCB, where he led engineering efforts in biologicals and injectables, and later became Head of Investment Strategy and Early Design – Global Engineering-Facilities.
Now as Head of US Engineering, Nicolas leads the strategic execution of UCB’s expansion in the United States, overseeing feasibility design, site selection, and cross-functional coordination with engineering partners, regulatory teams, and executive leadership.
He holds a degree in Management from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons and earlier earned his Engineering degree at Haute Ecole Mons-Borinage. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Nicolas emphasizes sustainability, digital enablement, and risk-based decision-making in all phases of project execution.
