The Georgia General Assembly formed the Life Sciences Caucus through HR 1474, a bipartisan and bicameral initiative designed to strengthen understanding of Georgia’s rapidly growing life sciences sector and support policies that drive innovation, company growth, and economic opportunity across the state.
Developed and championed by Georgia Life Sciences, the goals of the Life Science Caucus are to:
- Develop a sound knowledge of Georgia’s life science industry, including biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, academic research and health IT;
- Learn about the policies and regulations that affect the life science industry with a focus on supporting a favorable environment that will allow for further industry growth in Georgia;
- Support education and dialogue between policymakers, industry, academia, patient groups and the general public; and
- Ultimately, be a part of an effort to attract more jobs and investment to Georgia by providing a favorable economic and political climate for life science industry growth.
Georgia Life Sciences extends its sincere thanks to the legislators who sponsored and supported the formation of the caucus, including Senators Drew Echols, Frank Ginn, Chuck Hufstetler, Michael ‘Doc” Rhett, Shawn Still, Carden Summers, Ben Watson, and Kenya Wicks, as well as House members Matt Dubnik, John LaHood, Karen Mathiak, Ron Stephens, Brad Thomas, and Bill Yearta.
