BioReady Communities

Preparing Georgia Communities for Life Sciences Growth
Georgia Life Sciences' BioReady Communities program helps communities across Georgia assess, strengthen, and demonstrate their readiness to attract and support life sciences companies and investment.
As Georgia's life sciences industry continues to grow, communities have an opportunity to compete for projects in biotechnology, medical technology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, and related industries. BioReady provides a framework for communities to evaluate their assets, identify opportunities for improvement, and build the partnerships and infrastructure needed to support this specialized industry.
Building Communities Ready for Life Sciences
BioReady Communities evaluates key factors that influence life sciences site selection and business growth, including:
- Sites & Infrastructure: Availability of suitable sites and buildings, utilities, transportation access, and infrastructure to support life sciences operations.
- Workforce & Talent: Access to education, technical training, workforce development programs, and regional talent pipelines.
- Economic Development Capacity: Local leadership, business support resources, and the ability to coordinate an effective response to prospective projects.
- Industry & Regional Partnerships: Connections among economic development organizations, local governments, educational institutions, utilities, and other regional partners.
- Project Readiness: The ability to identify opportunities, provide relevant site information, and bring the right partners together to support a potential life sciences project.
A Framework for Progress
BioReady Communities uses a tiered designation system to recognize communities at different
stages of readiness
Bronze | Foundational Readiness
Demonstrates an understanding of local assets, available sites, workforce resources, and the foundational elements needed to support life sciences investment.
Silver | Developing Readiness
Demonstrates progress through stronger regional partnerships, more detailed site and infrastructure information, and active planning to address industry needs.
Gold | Advanced Readiness
Demonstrates a high level of preparedness through documented site capabilities, established partnerships, workforce connections, and the capacity to respond effectively to prospective life sciences projects.
Each designation provides a pathway for communities to build on existing strengths and address gaps that may affect their competitiveness.
Strengthening Georgia's Life Sciences Ecosystem
BioReady Communities supports Georgia's broader strategy to become a leading scale-up manufacturing hub in the Southeast. By helping communities understand the needs of life sciences companies and prepare for future investment, the program strengthens the state's ability to attract new projects, support existing businesses, and create opportunities for economic and workforce growth.
Developed and administered by Georgia Life Sciences and its Ecosystem Council, BioReady connects community readiness with the needs and opportunities of Georgia's life sciences industry.
